A pit bull who had bitten two adults ended up shot to death in Point Breeze.

The matter commenced at around 8 p.m. Aug. 2, as authorities received a call about a dog attacking a man near 16th and Dickinson streets. An officer spotted the animal biting the male, who was walking his canine, on the 1500 block of Dickinson Street and attempted to kick it away. Failing to do so, he fired one shot, leading to the dog’s demise. After dealing with the male complainant, who received a finger bite for which he did not seek treatment, law enforcement agents learned the pit bull had bitten a woman on her hands on the 1600 block of Dickinson Street. She received transport to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where personnel listed her in stable condition. As of press time, officials were reporting that they had not determined if the dog belonged to anyone, meaning a criminal negligence charge could come down on the owner if the pit bull had one.
