A South of South home invasion led to the arrest of a minor and his supposed accomplice.

The complainants told authorities that at 2:45 a.m. Aug. 8, they attempted to enter a residence on the 2400 block of Carpenter Street when the aforementioned figures allegedly prevented them from closing the front door by pushing it open, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The youth supposedly struck one of the occupants in the face and shouted “I’ll kill you.” The other reportedly stated he was going to rob the residents and demanded to know the location of cash.

A witness stated she would be calling authorities, which, Tolliver said, led the alleged offenders to run. Officers reportedly found the two riding bikes on the 1700 block of Catharine Street and arrested them after their positive identification by the victims, who reported nothing taken and no injuries sustained.

Authorities charged the minor with burglary, conspiracy, robbery, criminal trespassing, making terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, and simple assault. They charged West Philly resident Utife Blackwell with the same offenses and added corruption of a minor. The 21-year-old had not posted his $125,000 bail as of press time and awaits an Aug. 23 preliminary hearing.
