An insurance appraiser with South Philly ties will face sentencing in a fraud scheme.

Cheryl Stanton pleaded no contest Sept. 13 to 30 counts of insurance fraud and conspiracy. The 60-year-old awaits a Dec. 2 court date for her supposed involvement in a matter that involves a reputed mob associate.

Stanton worked for Erie Insurance as an appraiser and supposedly inflated claims on behalf of Ronald Galati Sr., who ran American Collision & Auto Center, 1930 S. 20th St., and who is serving time in federal prison for trying to have his daughter’s then-boyfriend killed. For her reported connection to Galati in the claims matter, Stanton received seven years of concurrent probation for one of the counts. She will have her December court appearance concerning the remaining matters.
