At around 10 p.m. Sept. 13, Angelo Colon, a cousin of chart-topping rapper Meek Mill, was standing on 18th Street and Snyder Avenue when the occupants of a burgundy vehicle shot at him and a friend, police said. One bullet struck the 21-year-old Colon in the head, with medical personnel pronouncing him dead at the scene.
The other victim, a 27-year-old male, received transport to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where authorities listed him in critical but stable condition. Police announced Tuesday that the shooter escaped in a dark sedan and that surveillance footage could prove vital in securing an arrest.
