Arrest made in fatal accident

Po­lice have a Lower Moy­a­mens­ing res­id­ent in cus­tody fol­low­ing a deadly week­end hit and run.

A wo­man was pro­nounced dead fol­low­ing a multi-car ac­ci­dent in East Passy­unk Cross­ing Sat­urday, and po­lice have a sus­pect in cus­tody. 

Po­lice have ar­res­ted An­thony Russino, 59, from the 2600 block of South Jes­sup Street, and charged him with in­vol­un­tary man­slaughter, hom­icide by vehicle, driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence, tam­per­ing with evid­ence and re­lated of­fenses. 

At ap­prox­im­ately 3:09 p.m., the op­er­at­or of a 2014 sil­ver Honda Ac­cord was trav­el­ing north­bound on the 1800 block of South 13th Street when it al­legedly struck four oth­er vehicles, three of which were parked and un­at­ten­ded, Of­ficer Tan­ya Little of Po­lice Pub­lic Af­fairs said. The op­er­at­or of the Ac­cord is be­lieved to have ex­ited the vehicle and at­temp­ted to re­move his li­cense plate be­fore he fled the scene on foot.

Car­oline Mor­gan, 56,  sat in the driver’s seat of a 2012 Sil­ver Fi­at at the time of the in­cid­ent, Little said. She was trans­por­ted to Jef­fer­son hos­pit­al by PFD Med­ic 43 pri­or to po­lice ar­rival, where she was pro­nounced dead at 4:36 p.m.
