Her own truth

Sometimes it's hard to separate fact from fiction. For Oddess Blocker, the two go hand in hand. "A lot of people are looking to read the real, actual story. Some people are taking parts of it personal when it's not, looking to read the true story when it's not the true story. It's a fictional novel," the new author said of her first book, "My Brothers 3."

Diggin' the fresh crops

Spring officially has arrived. Now the hunt for fresh, seasonal vegetables begins. We sometimes must wait until mid-April for fresh sweet peas, local asparagus and baby carrots. I find frozen vegetables are a fine substitute in early spring.

The only thing that could compare to the weather in South Beach were the games played in Miami, Fla., March 20 and 22 for the opening rounds of the 2009 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament where Neumann-Goretti grad Rick Jackson (2007) helped Syracuse advance to the Sweet 16.
