Birra, 1700 E. Passyunk Ave., has rolled out its happy hour menu.
Selected pizzas are half-priced 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. Some of the pie specials include cheese for $3, garlic with red sauce for $4.50, macaroni and cheese for $6.50 and cheeseburger for $8.50. The eatery also will offer a late-night happy hour 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Tuesdays through Fridays with $4 craft drafts, $5 glasses of wine and $6 specialty cocktails.

It is unusual to spend a nearly flawless evening in a restaurant, whether it be a neighborhood place or an upscale eatery. But Edward, Sandy and I enjoyed this unique experience at Birra, a trattoria-pizzeria that recently opened on East Passyunk Avenue.
