While many of your friends might avoid sweet temptations in order to move closer to the always popular New Year’s resolution of losing a few pounds, why not indulge with a warm slice of Carol McGinness’ Chocolate Chip Cake?
The resident of the 2100 block of South Hancock Street even sprinkles some cinnamon and sugar on top instead of spreading icing all over, so maybe dieters will be enticed to try a small piece as well.
1-1/2 cups of sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 pound of butter
1 cup of sour cream
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/4 cup of milk
1 16-ounce bag of chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Combine 1/2 cup of the sugar and the cinnamon in a bowl and set aside.
In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, remaining sugar and eggs. Add the sour cream and vanilla and blend together. Sift in the flour, baking powder and soda and mix. Stir in the milk and add the chocolate chips.
Pour in a pan and bake for 45 minutes.
After the cake cools, sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mix on top.
