With temperatures dipping below freezing and snow flurries falling to the ground, it’s not a bad idea to plan a warm, filling meal when no one even wants to leave the house to trek to a favorite eatery. Carol Myers’ Hearty Casserole will provide needed warmth and satisfy the family.
The resident of the 1300 block of Castle Avenue uses six ingredients to prepare three yummy layers for her creation. Once combined, the dish only needs 30 minutes in the oven until dinner is served.
2 pounds of ground beef or turkey
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1 4-ounce package of tomato sauce
1 pound of egg noodles, cooked according to package directions
8 ounces of cheese, cubed
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Brown the meat with the onion. Add the tomato sauce. In a bowl, combine the noodles and the soup.
Layer the meat mixture, the noodle mixture the cheese and repeat. Bake for about 30 minutes.

“I have a feeling that's supposed to be a 14 ounce can of tomato sauce, not 1 4 ounce package.
