With the Fourth of July just recently passed, the three colors still on people’s minds are red, white and blue. What better way to be tri-color creative than by making a dessert featuring strawberries, blueberries and Cool Whip?
Christina Maiellano of the 2500 block of South 10th Street recommends whipping up her Layered Blue Strawberry Tart that is sweet, healthy and appealing to the eye. Call it her sweet ending to a hot summer night.
Chrissie’s Layered Blue Strawberry Tart
Ingredients:
5 packages of angel food cake shells
1 large container of blueberries
2 bags of fresh or frozen strawberries
2 containers of Cool Whip or two cans of Reddi-wip
Directions:
Take one of the cake shells and layer the bottom of it with the Cool Whip or Reddi-wip. Then add some of the strawberries followed by the blueberries. Repeat the steps with the other four shells, stacking each of the layers on a round or square plate.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
