A teen shot another multiple times after a basketball contest at a local rec center as he ran away from the shooter June 25.
As the 18-year-old male walked from the facility, a man on a bicycle approached him on the 2700 block of Tasker Street at 10:54 p.m. June 25, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The teen saw the suspect reach for his waistband. As he tried to run westbound from the shooter, several shots were fired striking the victim in the backside and right arm before the man pedaled away north on 27th Street. He was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition, but there is no apparent motive yet for the shooting, Tolliver said.
The offender was described as a black male, 18 to 20 years old and wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.
To report information, call South Detectives at 215-685-1635.
A man received multiple gunshot wounds from an unknown offender while he was walking down the street, and a biker was hit by a stray bullet in the same incident last week.
A 19-year-old man suffered a shot to his right thigh and two to his left leg as he walked along the 2500 block of South Marshall Street at 6:24 p.m. June 24, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. A 17-year-old, who was riding his bike on the block, heard the gunshots and saw several men running north on Marshall Street before he felt pain in his left ankle and ran inside a neighbor's home, Tolliver said. While he did not see the shooter, he did notice a long, black vehicle drive east on Porter Street from Marshall.
Both teens were transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in stable condition, but neither had a description of the gunman.
To report information, call South Detectives at 215-685-1635.
A report of a stabbing on the 1200 block of South 19th Street led police to a 44-year-old man standing on the block with a blood-soaked shirt, Friday.
Lamitina, 55, of the same block, was sitting in the passenger side of a co-worker's car when he and the 44-year-old began to argue about money, which eventually became physical, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Even though he was bleeding profusely when police arrived at 12:20 p.m., he pointed at Lamitina, and said, "that's the guy who stabbed me."
The suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses while police transported the victim to HUP where he received surgery for the stab wound to his upper left back and several stitches to his right hand. The man has been unable to talk to police as he is in guarded condition with a punctured left lung as of press time. Two pocket knives were recovered from Lamintina's home, but it has not yet been determined if they were the used in the incident, Tolliver said.

“What happened to South Philly? I remember when it was safe to walk the streets. Somebody dig up Frank Rizzo, and make him mayor again. ”

“ WHAT'S HAPPENING IN SOUTH PHILLY? I feel sorry for South Philly residents. It is a colorful, diverse neighborhood and has a lot of potential. Like so much of Philadelphia, it's the 'low lifes' who can't/won't work for a living that cause the problems. That delivery guy didn't deserve the racial name calling by the long-time (I am guessing) resident. Philadelphia needs a massive influx of jobs, training schools, and drug rehab centers. “The city needs to start making all the low-life welfare people and SSI recipient cause they are druggies to work for their money... like the rest of us. The city needs to take back what belongs to them. Make them pay their taxes and work for their free checks. They can work by cleaning up the city or being town watch.. if they rob while watching they are help accountable for it. This world needs to make everyone responsible for their actions... or their childrens.”

“Its a shame because I lived in South Philly almost all my life. The worst part too, matter of fact *point breeze*. I didnt remember South being this bad. When I was twelve (and kids, dont try this at home), I use to walk all over south philly from sun up til' sun down and NOTHING ever happens other than being stop for curfew. Now, I cant even walk down the block at 8pm without someone screaming out racial slurs and trying to start a fight. Just the other day, I was down the 7th street area getting some food with my friend. She was so hungry but was so happy we got something she was craving for and there behind me, I heard "Dont get so hype. Imma beat you up!" I turned around and it was KIDS. Not high school kids but middle school kids. They were threatening me and my friends. I just walked off laughing and they started getting angrier. Cussing us out and all. Just thought I'd share that with you guys. South Philly is just getting out of hand. Its these kids. Theyre just out of control and someone better start doing something about it.”
