There was nowhere else in the world Oct. 31 than the sports complex. If the final concert at the Spectrum, where Pearl Jam played for three-plus hours, and trick-or-treaters in costume (and not just the kid set) weren't enough, there was the first home game of the World Series. The Phillies didn't fare too well against the Yankees, but were able to rally in Monday's Game 5. They headed back to New York for Game 6, which started after press time.
What happened when the sun went down Saturday was just the end of a day that began with the Third Annual Mutt Strut, where dogs and the people who love them walked 1.5 miles through FDR Park to raise funds for PAWS's efforts to save homeless, abandoned and unwanted animals. There also was plenty of black and orange at the Wachovia Center -- and not just for Halloween's sake -- where the Flyers trounced the Carolina Hurricanes, 6-1.
