Detectives believe a teen from the 2200 block of McKean was slain elsewhere then dumped on a Society Hill street.
A New York man convicted of raping a woman and attempting to rape her friend was sentenced Oct. 30 and also must register as a Megan's Law sex offender.
David Rosario, 34, tried to withdraw his guilty plea before he was sentenced at his non-jury trial last Friday, Assistant District Attorney Mark Cipolletti told the Review. Denying the request, Judge Gwendolyn Bright sentenced the Queens man to 12-1/2 to 25 years in state prison and 15 years probation. The defendant also must register all of his addresses for life with state police, Cipolletti said.
Rosario was charged with rape, attempted rape, possession of an instrument of crime and two counts of unlawful restraint.
After meeting Rosario Feb. 24, 2008, at North Lounge, 222 South St., next door to where the 30-year-old victim lived, she and her 23-year-old friend invited Rosario and a couple of other people to their apartment at about 2:30 a.m., police said at the time. Most guests left after a few hours, but Rosario stayed, watching TV and drinking beer, telling his hosts he had no place to go. When the women asked him to leave, he refused, so they left him in the den and went to the bedroom to sleep. Later that morning at about 10:30 a.m., Rosario entered the bedroom and committed the crimes, police said.
The 30-year-old rape victim suffered severe head, neck and back injuries when she jumped from her third-floor bedroom window in an attempt to escape Rosario after the attack.
Rosario then turned his attention to the younger woman, who ran out of the dwelling's entrance to escape harm.
In court, the defendant denied his involvement in the attacks and told the victims' families he was sorry for their ordeal, Cipolletti said.
