A woman was given a black eye and laceration when she denied a robber her money in Newbold Sunday afternoon.

The 41-year-old was on the 1900 block of South Bouvier Street when a man displayed a pocket knife with a black handle and demanded cash at 12:45 p.m., Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. When she refused, he punched her in the left eye and cut the left side of her face. She forked over $150 and a ring and the bandit fled on foot south on Bouvier.

Police transported her to Methodist Hospital for treatment, Tolliver said.

The offender was described as black with a medium complexion, age 28 to 32, 6 foot; having some facial hair; and wearing a black zip-up hoody, white sneakers and aviator-style sunglasses.
