A woman was robbed in Newbold after withdrawing money from a Lower Moyamensing ATM Monday afternoon.
The 48-year-old, who had used the ATM at TD Bank, 2201 S. Broad St., was walking along the 1500 block of Moore Street at 12:51 p.m. when two teens attempted to obtain her purse, which contained $12,530, a cell phone and a bank card, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. When she refused, one of the offenders shoved her to the sidewalk and both of them kicked and punched her repeatedly until one of the boys succeeded in taking the pocketbook. Both fled eastbound on Moore.
The woman sustained minor injuries, but did not require medical treatment, Tolliver said.
The teens were described as black, age 17 to 18, tall and wearing dark-colored hoodies and dark-colored pants.

“I know that $12,530 figure is total bullcrap. But why would someone lie about how much they got robbed? It's not like you have cash robbery insurance. Do you? Does homeowners insurance cover muggings?”
