John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School senior twin sisters Guovanna and Sylvia Shoukri, of the 2300 block of South 24th Street, were chosen for Drexel University’s Liberty Scholars program in which they each receive a full tuition and fee scholarship for their matriculation. The program was designed to continue the connection of Drexel University to its Philadelphia communities. Although they plan to attend Drexel the twins also were offered scholarships to La Salle and Philadelphia universities, as well as University of the Sciences.
At Hallahan, Guovanna, ranked third in the senior class and received an Alumnae Academic Scholarship while Sylvia ranked second and received the Connelly Achievement Award. The sisters also were active outside the classroom as members of Mathletes, Respect Life Club, National Honor Society, along with numerous other clubs.
