An argument triggered the gunfire on the 2700 block of Marshall Street Monday.
A 28-year-old was shot to death and a 21-year-old injured at about 2:30 a.m. Monday on the 2700 block of Marshall Street.
Ggon Goods, from the 1000 block of South 12th Street, took a bullet to the chest and was pronounced dead at 4:48 a.m. at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Officer Jill Russell of the Police Public Affairs Unit said.
The 21-year-old from Coatesville took a bullet to her left hand and was transported to Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.
Homicide detectives cited an argument as the motive for the shooting, but it is unclear how the victims were involved, Russell said.
To report information, call the Homicide Division at 215-686-3334/5.
An 18-year-old was knifed three times in the back by a woman she accidentally bumped into on the street, police said.
The victim transported herself to HUP, where she was in stable condition with three puncture wounds to the middle of her back, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.
At about 12:10 p.m. Christmas Eve, the teen was walking on the 1800 block of Manton Street when she passed three females, brushing the shoulder of one. The victim told police the woman she bumped then pulled a kitchen knife, placed her in a bear hug and started to stab her in the back.
The knife-wielding attacker and her friends ran from the scene in an unknown direction.
The armed woman was described as black, about age 25, about 5-foot-7 with a medium build and a light complexion. She had on a blue winter jacket with “Old Navy” embroidered on the front. The victim was unable to provide police with a description of the other two females.
To report information, call South Detectives at 215-686-3013.

“I'm the mother of the 21 year old that was shot on Marshall Street. Papers & media need to be more accurate in their descriptions. I seen several different articles about this tragic unwarranted brutal act.The incident occured on December 27, early SUNDAY morning. The fight was in the Fireside Tavern located on the corner of Marshall & Oregon Avenue & escalated outside the bar just before closing. My daughter WAS NOT treated & released as some report..In fact she had to have surgery and was admittted. Gjon who was the boyfriend of my other daughter in the bar at the time had gotten into a fight with another guy in the bar. This lead to an unexpected outside confrontation as they were leaving! This is NOT the first time this bar had problems with fights inside which escalated outside after the individuals were intoxicated leading to someone getting shot & killed. Google "SHOOTINGS AT FIRESIDE TAVERN IN SOUTH PHILLY" In addtition they serve KNOWN UNDERAGE people! THEY NEED TO BE CLOSED!!”

“I am so glad I am out of that neighborhood. It used to be such a great place to live. One of the few neighborhoods where the majority of the whites and blacks got along. Most of us were friends and went to school and played with one another and had BBQ's in the summer time, played sports over in the field on 6th & Bigler sts and we cared about one another for the most part. That bar has been a problem for years from back when it was called the Candy Cane Lounge. My parents lived in that area from the early 1950's until 2 years ago when my dad passed away. I lived there for over 40 years and went to Stella Maris School. I am so sorry for your loss and so sorry that another beautiful neighborhood in South Philly has been destroyed by thugs.”
