Race to the finish

The primary is Tuesday and 10 local residents are on the ballot for local state representative seats.

The primaries are days away with a lot of seats up for grabs. Aside from candidates vying for Pennsylvania governor and lieutenant governor, U.S. Congressional and General Assembly spots are up for the taking with about 10 of those from state House of Representatives’ races residing locally.

Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Robert C. Donatucci and Michael D. Bruno, of the West Passyunk neighborhood, candidates for the 185th District, are running unopposed on Tuesday, but will be matched up against each other for the General Election. The district spans from South Philly into Delaware County including local neighborhoods such as Girard Estate, Marconi Plaza, Packer Park and part of the Navy Yard. Each state representative is elected to a two-year term.

First-term state Rep. Kenyatta Johnson is opposite Point Breeze community activists Timothy Hannah and Dyheim Watson on the ballot in the 186th District. The victor will face Republican Keith Todd in November. The district stretches from South to Southwest Philly including parts of Bella Vista, Grays Ferry, Hawthorne, Newbold, Passyunk Square, Point Breeze, South of South and West Passyunk neighborhoods.
