A 19-year-old Pennsport man was gunned down inside a vehicle Monday night.
Police responded to the 500 block of Pierce Street for a reported shooting, Officer Christine O’Brien of the Police Public Affairs Unit said. At 10:36 p.m., police discovered Akiem Smith, of the 1300 block of South Fourth Street, with multiple gunshot wounds inside a Cadillac DeVille. He was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:19 p.m.
As of press time, police did not have any suspects or a motive for the homicide.
