Minh Nguyen
Minh Nguyen is a student who strives for perfection. The Sacred Heart of Jesus School, 1329 E. Moyamensing Avenue, eighth-grader’s academic excellence and generosity to others, have made him an outstanding student.
“But more importantly, Minh is a first-class human being,” Angela Romano, his eighth-grade teacher, said “ He gives of himself tirelessly.”
In his spare time, the 14-year-old plays the organ for parish functions. He also helps to plan Liturgical celebrations. With his participation in such activities outside of school, it is not shocking that even though he excels in most subjects, music is undoubtedly his favorite.
“Minh is a generous person not only monetarily, but with the gift of his time,” Romano said. “He has a very deep sense of loyalty and integrity.”
Minh, of the 1200 block of East Moyamensing Avenue, has acquired his share of recognition due to such dedication. He was awarded both Student of the Month as well as Critic’s Choice. Minh also was a member of a group that participated in the West Catholic Academic Challenge, where the group won second place overall.
In the years to come, Minh aspires to attend college and eventually go into the medical field.
Minh Nguyen will receive a $150 savings bond. If you are a teacher or full-time educator and would like to nominate a student (first through 12th grades), call 215-336-2500 ext. 117 or e-mail editor@southphillyreview.com..
