Oldies fans let disc jockey Jerry Blavat spin favorite tunes Saturday at Stella Maris, 2901 S. 10th St. (Photo 1).

Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service inspired numerous acts of remembrance, including students from Horace Furness High School, 1900 S. Third St., working on a community quilt and sprucing up the site (Photo 2); a luncheon at the St. Charles Senior Community Center, 1941 Christian St. (Photo 3); learners from George Washington School, 1198 S. Fifth St., cleaning its facility and Sacks Playground, 400 Washington Ave. (Photo 4); Friends Select pupils coming from Center City to paint parts of Andrew Jackson School, 1213 S. 12th St. (Photo 5); painting and installing of new lights at St. Simon the Cyrenian Episcopal Church, 1401 S. 22nd St. (Photo 6); and area children visiting South Philadelphia High School, 2101 S. Broad St., to paint its garden walls. (Photo 7).
