Hurricane Irene proved too powerful for a tree in front of St. Maron’s Roman Catholic Church, 1010 Ellsworth St. (Photo 1), and one within Julian Abele Park, 22nd and Carpenter streets (Photo 2).

The seventh annual Philadelphia Phillies American Red Cross Blood Drive at Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way, rewarded donors with a Shane Victorino T-shirt, a ballpark tour and photo opportunities with the 2008 World Series Trophy and ’09 National League Championship Trophy Aug. 21 (Photos 3 and 4).
