Unity in the Community volunteers served a Thanksgiving meal (Photo 1) and collected toys (Photo 2) for those less fortunate at Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church, 2321 Fitzwater St., Nov. 24. Mrs. Pearson’s third-grade class collected the most cans for the food drive at Smith Academic Plus School, 1900 Wharton St. City Year Greater Philadelphia donated the school’s 500 cans to Philabundance, 3616 S. Galloway St., and My Brother’s House Men’s Shelter, 609 S. 15th St. (Photo 3). Cacia’s Bakery 1526 W. Ritner St., baked 116 turkeys Nov. 24 to resident’s delight (Photo 4). Owner Sam Cacia pulls a bird from the oven (Photo 5).
