Residents held on to their remaining reminder of the holiday until Saturday in order to recycle the timber at local sites. Tree-cyclers wheeled, carried and drove their evergreens to Whole Foods, 929 South St., where greenlimbs stationed Cenova Inc. to transform timber into wood chips (Photos 1, 3 and 4). Queen Village Neighbors Association’s Carla Pupin, from left, 1st District Councilman Mark Squilla and Edward Bell helped to collect 338 donations at Weccacoe Playground, 405-25 Queen St., between the Queen Village and South Street sites (Photo 2). At Marconi Plaza, Broad and Bigler streets, volunteers like Rachel Lipton of the 2700 block of South 13th Street helped to gather about 40 trees and clean up the park (Photo 5) while Shechtman Tree Care workers tended to the woodchipper (Photo 6). Allison Fritz, from left, Peter Verrecchia and Kim Massare (Photo 7) helped out at Columbus Square Park, 13th and Wharton streets, where Bartlett Tree Experts created chippings from 385 trees. ■
