A crowd of more than 350 ready-to-sample eaters enjoyed noodles of various shapes and sizes as neighborhood establishments lifted their respective lids for the South Philly Review’s first-ever Pasta Bowl March 21 at Penns Landing Caterers, 1301 S. Columbus Blvd. Of course, each of the chefs stirred up the conversation by adding their top-secret ingredient: The gravy.
Each person in the room may have had a favorite dish or two, but this night wasn’t about whose pasta reigned supreme. It was more about a little mingling mixed with some dancing and hopefully a sprinkling of fun-had-by-all satisfaction. Disc jockey Eddie Tully added his musical spin to the evening while P&S Ravioli, 2001 S. 26th St., and South Jersey-based Liscio’s Bakery served as event sponsors. Four lucky winners literally went home with their hands full, carrying one of the randomly-drawn prizes — including a 50/50 raffle that raised $700.
Now that the tables have been cleared, we will start cooking up the plans for Pasta Bowl II.
