A Dickinson Narrows man is believed to have been responsible for firing the fatal shot to a teen’s head.
Reuben White, 36, of the 500 block of Sigel Street, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Oct. 15 at Police Headquarters, 750 Race St. for allegedly killing a 17-year-old who lived two blocks from his home, police said. White was charged with murder, conspiracy murder, possession of an instrument of crime and firearm violations, and is being held without bail at Northeast Philly’s county jail, according to court records.
White, who is 19 years older than his alleged victim, Naasir Westbrook, of the 400 block of Dudley Street, is believed to have fired the fatal blow to the teen’s head at 9:47 p.m. May 31 on the 1700 block of South Fifth St (“Teen slaying,” June 7). Medics pronounced Westbrook dead at the scene 13 minutes later. Police did not disclose the motive by press time.
White has pled guilty to drug charges four times between 2003 and ’11 — all of which have occurred east of Broad Street in South Philly, according to court records. He served up to 23 months for each case.
