Two teens attempted to jump a man in Point Breeze for his phone last week.

The 25-year-old was on the 1800 block of Moore Street at 12:55 p.m. Feb. 27 when the pair punched him, knocked him to the ground and went through his pockets, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. They were unsuccessful in stealing his phone and fled in an unknown direction.

One of the offenders was described as black with a dark complexion, age 18 and wearing a blue puffy jacket, blue jeans and a gray and blue Aeropostale knit hat. A detailed description of the other perpetrator was not available at press time.

“The man was left with broken jaw and several other broken facial bones. He has not yet recovered. Doesn't seem like the police cares to catch the perpetrator since the crime rate is so high in philly. I hope the media can try to bring attention to crimes such as these in order to warn citizens and convince city officials to spend more to protect our people.”

“Why does this article make it sound like nothing happened? The assaulted man could have easily died after the brutal assault. I guess the police report downplayed the incident. The title "dropped crime" also makes it sound like crime rates are dropping or something. This is disgusting of the police, media and criminals alike.”
