A woman’s ex-flame waived a gun around as the two argued about her new relationship Friday at her home.
The 21-year-old was drinking with her 23-year-old boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend, Robert Reed, 28, of the 2400 block of South Beulah Street, at 6:15 a.m. when she and her ex are believed to have had a dispute, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Her current boyfriend broke up the fight and the two men left the residence on the 2500 block of South Second Street.
Reed allegedly returned to the dwelling and the two started to yell at each other again in the woman’s bedroom, Tolliver said. Reed allegedly went to the basement and returned with a silver handgun with a brown handle and waived it at her as the argument persisted.
The woman called her boyfriend to return, but Reed allegedly waived the gun at him too and demanded that he leave, Tolliver said. The boyfriend obliged, but called police from a neighbor’s home.
Reed left the dwelling before police arrived and returned unarmed. He willingly informed police where the gun was located, Tolliver said. He was arrested and charged with two counts of theft — unlawful taking and receiving stolen property — simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of an instrument of crime and firearm violations.

“I would like to clarify a few things....Robert Reed was lured to the home of his ex Brittney Herron who convinced Robert to hang out with friends under false pretenses not telling him that one of the friends Matt Grant was indeed the current boyfriend to Brittney , as any person would become jealous the two men began to argue and it got out of hand but Brittney is telling her side because as we know she handed Robert the gun...Please reprint this because Robert is an innocent man with no prior records and she is getting away scott free.”
