A Grays Ferry corner store that remained open Monday was robbed.

A man entered Newkirk Grocery, 1555 S. Newkirk St., at 3:36 p.m. and said to the 29-year-old female cashier, “Hey …, give me the money,” Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The man pushed the employee and pulled out a knife. When she backed away, he took $300 from the register and fled in an unknown direction.

The robber was described as white, in his early-30s, 5-foot-5, thin and wearing a black hoodie, black sweat pants, sneakers and a black bandana over the lower part of his face.
