A dollar store’s burglary alarm was set off, but police only located a garbage bag filled with toys near an open roof hatch.

Police responded to Family Dollar, 1700 Washington Ave., at 3:29 a.m. Nov. 28 and located a makeshift ladder directed toward the lower-level of the roof, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The fire department assisted police to access the roof, which is where officers discovered the toys that were the only missing items from the store.

A description of the suspect or suspects was not available at press time.
