Two men attempted to rob a pair in Marconi Saturday.
A 42-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were walking westbound on the 1600 block of Ritner Street at 2:10 a.m. when Anthony Rettaro, 44, of Northeast Philly, and Marc Mangini, 24, of the 2500 block of South Dover Street, allegedly approached them, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. One offender demanded they “give up the money,” but the man resisted Rettaro, who is believed to have been armed with a brick, as the female dialed 911.
The alleged perpetrators fled north on Bancroft Street.
When an officer arrived, he surveyed the neighborhood with the victims, who spotted the pair on the 2500 block of South Rosewood Street.
The alleged offenders were apprehended and charged with two counts of attempted theft, robbery, conspiracy of robbery simple assault, and possession of an instrument of crime.
Rettaro and Mangini have not posted their $20,000 and $10,000 bail, respectively, at press time, according to court records.
