A large reward is available for information leading to the arrest of the man who robbed and cut a woman in Bella Vista.
In a robbery last week, a thief slashed a woman’s face, which needed more than 100 sutures to repair.
The Fraternal Order of Police is offering $7,500 for information leading to the offender's arrest while the City of Philadelphia is adding $5,000 for a tip leading to the arrest and conviction of the robber, Lt. Joe Dougherty of South Detective Division said Wednesday.
The 23-year-old woman was near her home when an unknown man approached her from behind and cut her face with an unknown object at 4:10 a.m. Nov. 11 on the 700 block of South Ninth Street, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detectives said. He snatched her purse and fled north on Ninth and east on Fitzwater Street.
The woman was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for treatment of the large laceration, Tolliver said. Meanwhile, her purse was recovered on the 800 block of Kenilworth Street. It was unclear what, if anything, was missing from the handbag at press time.
The suspect was described as white, thin and wearing a white hoodie with an emblem on left side of hood, black pants and dark-colored shoes.
