After arresting one, police are trying to identify three more teens for vandalisms in West Passyunk last week.
At 8:50 p.m. Dec. 27, the group walked along the 2000 block of South Etting Street spray-painting stop signs, car hoods and buildings with “W,” “L” and “Wreck Locals,” in addition to breaking off car side mirrors and kicking in windshields, according to the Police Public Affairs Unit.
Two days later, the teens posted a video of the acts to YouTube, which tipsters alerted police about Tuesday. One of the offenders, a 16-year-old, called 911 to turn himself in at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Christine O’Brien of Public Affairs said, declinding to disclose where the male resided. He was charged with 17 counts of criminal mischief including incidents on Etting, the 2200 and 2300 blocks of Oregon Avenue, 2400 block of West Passyunk Avenue, 25th and Ritner streets and 28th Street and Vare Avenue.

“It's critical to note where these kids live because the community is tasked with keeping an eye on them. We're the ones who saw the surveillance footage released by police and saw the kids using cell phones to make videos, and found them on Youtube, and called police, then helped police get as much info as possible as quickly as possible off of the web for a successful prosecution.
So leaving the community out of the equation when they are released is bad public policy that frays the social network of neighbors who watch out for each other.
As people try to get back on their feet after thousands of dollars of damage to their primary mode of transportation, we owe the victims that much.

“The rumor is that these kids live in PHA (visible in some of their postings). These are felonies, and PHA should be held responsible for evicting these families for abusing the public trust.
We cannot afford to reward dysfunction with our tax dollars anymore. If you using subsidies, food stamps, housing, fine. But don't be a criminal, or raise criminals, or it's time to get booted out permanently. Be a citizen or be gone.
There is no reason to the pay the bills of people who cost so much. If they are going to be criminals, to raise criminals, they do not belong here, and we have the power to make that happen.
If Nutter and PHA won't respond, then make sure you vote for the candidate who is going to cut these unaccountable, badly run social programs that reward criminality. If no one will do the hard work of evictions of felons, or cutting people off who won't hold up their end of the social contract bargain for getting subsidies, then it's time for deep cuts.

“Btw, it is the law, and the US Supreme Ct. upheld it, that if you or anyone on the lease is convicted of a felony, the whole family can be evicted and BANNED from public housing.
Other places do this, and Philly is not doing the job. PHA is not doing its job.
So we have no choice but to vote for cuts in order to live in our own city. No Democrat will do the tough job of holding people accountable for this federal spending.”

“they got my car..it cost me 800 to fix it..more programs? for me to fix my car for free because of this or for more black youths to act irresponsibly? programs dont help..when ur playing the victim you can maniplulate the system alot easier....u improve you get nothing...then u have to contunue to work for everything u recieve..they dont want to work..they like being the victim...por me we r at a disadvantage....its bullcrap...we all have struggles but some of us choose a different path.....they desev jail time and their parents should pay a fine”
