Juggling schoolwork and extracurricular activities can be demanding for anyone, but Ss. John Neumann-Maria Goretti senior Gabriella Mastrobuoni was able to strike the balance and excel on both sides.
Two teams from Sacred Heart of Jesus School competed in the Ss. John Neumann-Maria Goretti Academic Bowl. Team A, which consisted of eighth-graders Sean and Kasey Hewitt and seventh-grader Katie Smith, bested nine other schools to walk away with first place, as well as $1,000 scholarships and medals for each. The school at 1329 E. Moyamensing Ave. received a first-place trophy.
A penchant for demonstrating courtesy to others, coupled with an inventive mind and firm dedication, are leadership qualities any aspiring career woman would be proud to possess. St. Monica School third-grader Katie McCann is showing early signs of being a star-in-the-making.
