A night worth repeating

To the Editor:

This year was my first Pizzalympics, and what an enjoyable evening it was. I came with five of my friends who also thought it was an exciting night. We will definitely be back next year.

The gift bags that were given out were a very nice unexpected surprise. There was plenty of room to dance and walk around to each pizza vendor without bumping into anyone. Even the tables were set up so you had enough room to sit comfortably and walk in between tables. The best part was there were so many different pizzas (amongst wings, sandwiches and strombolis) to choose from, and each one was conveniently displayed.

This truly was a one-of-a-kind event, and you can absolutely count me and my friends in for next year.

To the Editor:

I just wanted to say thank for you putting together the Pizzalympics this year.  My wife and I attended and had a wonderful time. It was great to be able to sample all of the different pizzas and we got to hang out with our friends.

We were very excited to try SliCE and Rustica’s pizza. We also really appreciated the beer special. Maybe next year we could get a couple of microbrews to sample?

All in all, it was a great event and we had a wonderful time.  Thank you and we look forward to participating next year.

Attacking the issue

I agree with Tom Cardella (“War,” July 15): We should not engage in war without thinking mightily about our rationale. Our last declared war was WWII because we had to defend ourselves from a direct attack.

Hard to comprehend

I read with amusement the open letter to the Phillies fan who interfered with a Jayson Werth catch (“Foul territory interference,” July 15). There also is an incident that deserves honorable mention. What grown man comes to a baseball game with an Uncle Junior Soprano white jeff cap and a baseball glove?

Sharing the road

I am personally pleased that so many people in South Philly are now riding bicycles. However, they can be a nightmare for those who drive cars. Some cyclists obey the traffic laws, some only obey to their own advantage, etc.

Safeguarding their wheels

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation strongly believes consumers are entitled to the freedom to choose how their motorcycle, car or other type of vehicle is maintained, serviced or upgraded. That’s why we support the Motor Vehicle Owners’ Right to Repair Act (S3181/HR2057) and urge Congress to swiftly pass the legislation in order to safeguard individual vehicle ownership rights today and in the future.

Slicing it down at the Pizzalympics
By Erica J. Minutella

Last Thursday, more than 600 people had the opportunity to follow the pizza-aficionado’s equivalent of the yellow brick road: An entryway lined with yellow, red and white balloons that led to a mini bastion fortified with ovens and pizza boxes. At the Review’s Second Annual Pizzalympics, local parlors competed to gain recognition from this year’s attendees.
