To the Editor:

I read with amusement the open letter to the Phillies fan who interfered with a Jayson Werth catch (“Foul territory interference,” July 15). There also is an incident that deserves honorable mention. What grown man comes to a baseball game with an Uncle Junior Soprano white jeff cap and a baseball glove?

When you get past 12 years old don’t you leave the baseball glove at home? Then in front of 45,000 people at the stadium and all the TV viewers he poses for the cameras as to say I interfered with a foul ball for my own team. What on earth was he thinking?

“Yup! You know what else? The guy probably knows little about the Phillies, and even less about baseball. Somebody probably gave him the tickets. If thats the case, I doubt we'll see him again...hopefully!”

Foul territory interference

Open letter to the Phillies fan who interfered with the probable catch by Jayson Werth: If you were afraid the ball was going to hit your son in the head if you didn’t catch it, stay home and watch it on TV. If you truly are a Phillies fan and feared for your son’s safety, why not cover your son with your body and allow Werth to make the play? If you truly are a Phillies fan, you should have known the type of player Werth is, and would no doubt do everything he can to make the play.

A night worth repeating

This year was my first Pizzalympics, and what an enjoyable evening it was. I came with five of my friends who also thought it was an exciting night. We will definitely be back next year.

Attacking the issue

I agree with Tom Cardella (“War,” July 15): We should not engage in war without thinking mightily about our rationale. Our last declared war was WWII because we had to defend ourselves from a direct attack.

Sharing the road

I am personally pleased that so many people in South Philly are now riding bicycles. However, they can be a nightmare for those who drive cars. Some cyclists obey the traffic laws, some only obey to their own advantage, etc.

Safeguarding their wheels

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation strongly believes consumers are entitled to the freedom to choose how their motorcycle, car or other type of vehicle is maintained, serviced or upgraded. That’s why we support the Motor Vehicle Owners’ Right to Repair Act (S3181/HR2057) and urge Congress to swiftly pass the legislation in order to safeguard individual vehicle ownership rights today and in the future.
