To the Editor:
I am personally pleased that so many people in South Philly are now riding bicycles. However, they can be a nightmare for those who drive cars. Some cyclists obey the traffic laws, some only obey to their own advantage, etc.
The worst for me is when a cyclist rides the white line between two lanes of traffic. Also, it is very difficult at times for cars to pass a cyclist for fear of hitting the person. Can anything be done about this? Would it be so terribly dangerous if bicycles were ridden against the flow of traffic, so drivers of cars could see them at all times?

This year was my first Pizzalympics, and what an enjoyable evening it was. I came with five of my friends who also thought it was an exciting night. We will definitely be back next year.
I agree with Tom Cardella (“War,” July 15): We should not engage in war without thinking mightily about our rationale. Our last declared war was WWII because we had to defend ourselves from a direct attack.
I read with amusement the open letter to the Phillies fan who interfered with a Jayson Werth catch (“Foul territory interference,” July 15). There also is an incident that deserves honorable mention. What grown man comes to a baseball game with an Uncle Junior Soprano white jeff cap and a baseball glove?
The Motorcycle Riders Foundation strongly believes consumers are entitled to the freedom to choose how their motorcycle, car or other type of vehicle is maintained, serviced or upgraded. That’s why we support the Motor Vehicle Owners’ Right to Repair Act (S3181/HR2057) and urge Congress to swiftly pass the legislation in order to safeguard individual vehicle ownership rights today and in the future.

“There are a few reasons why bicyclists ride on the white line between the two lanes of traffic. I do it temporarily if someone is making a right turn, unless I pass them on the left I would get cut off. Being cut off by someone making a right turn without using their blinker is the most common problem I have with other cars in the city.
The second reason is to avoid someone parked on the right from opening their door causing you to get "door'd". This happens most often with taxi cab passengers not exiting curbside.”

“The bike riders need to pay more attention to a car or truck that will kill you if it hits you. Most of them ride the streets as if they are motor vehicles. Nothing worse then when i stop at a light on a major road and i have a person on a bike in front of me stopped as well waiting for a light. Get out of the way and ride your bike where it belongs, on the small back streets and not in a turning lane for a motor vehicle. If you want to obey the laws of the roads then maybe we should have a drivers license for riding a bike on major roads, see how many pass.”

“@Key Lime Pizza
cars are allowed on all streets....but not on limited access highways or streets where otherwise indicated.
Deal with it.”
