To the Editor:
Although Valentine’s Day has passed, and this letter may be considered a couple weeks late, I decided that there should never be an expiration date to write about love. I know Valentine’s Day has become very materialistic, as have many other holidays.
But it does not change the fact that it transforms an otherwise dreary month into a hearty and festive occasion. A sea of pink and red flowers and hearts are found in every store and many neighborhood windows, including my own. Of course, these things, although very superficial, simply make us feel happy.
I’ve always believed that the deepest forms of love are the things that you don’t see and the words that you don’t say, but rather it’s the unspoken word that is the truest and most heartfelt. It needs no explanation or description, it just is.
And so, in the midst of sad events and some gloomy days, we have all taken a timeout to remember love.
