To the Editor:

Wall Street didn’t force banks to give mortgages to people, who had no means of paying for them, or start the current debt and spending crisis we suffer from today. Oppressive government did. Wall Street didn’t shut down the oil wells in the Gulf; hinder oil and gas development and transmission in the states; and threaten coal-powered generation. Oppressive government did.

Wall Street didn’t assault our health and medical services and systems that put hospitals, insurance companies and doctors out of business and jeopardize the health and welfare of all Americans. Wall Street did not use the power of elected office to make corrupt deals with business cronies. Oppressive government did.

Wall Street didn’t force farmers and fishers out of business; regulate and tax businesses to make it impossible to manufacture in America; and make trade deals with other nations that cause loss to American workers and families. Oppressive government did. The responsibility of government is to protect American standards that the citizens have achieved, not to raise the nations of the world to American economic standards.

Wall Street did not ruin, waste and corrupt American colleges and schools. Oppressive government did. God teaches “Thou shalt not steal.” Karl Marx, atheist and communist teaches: Thou shalt steal from those who have more for the common good of and income equality.

Our Constitution, Declaration of Independence and God-given rights are Bible-based, not atheist-based.

The big sleep

To the Editor: Once again Mayor Michael Nutter is slow in resolving an issue — Occupy Philly. He reacts rather than acts. As a result, we face graffiti, rape allegations, gunshots, feces, human street barricades, inconvenience and a large bill.
