To the Editor:
I would like to thank Streets Commissioner [Clarena I.W. Tolson] and Mayor Michael Nutter for screwing up West Passyunk Avenue with the new renovations ("Sprucing up West Passyunk and Snyder," Feb. 16, 2012). They have managed to waste millions of dollars adding new pavements that extend into the street and closed part of the midsection of 25th Street near Passyunk. Construction is changing lanes on every block from 25th to 16th streets. This has created traffic jams and will cause accidents and road rage.
I myself and several friends have already witnessed one act of road rage and several near accidents. Who ever thought this would help must have been in la la land? I also would like to know who is going to shovel these new pavements this winter and where are they going to put the snow they shovel if they even get around to shoveling them.
I sent both the mayor and the commissioner four memos and suggested that they accompany me on a tour so I could show they what they have done, but neither has bothered to answer my e-mails.

“CAN THEY ATLEAST TIME THE DAMM LIGHTS?!!
Single file waiting behind a lady on a cell phone making a left can kill you. Red lights every 30 feet is stupid, time the damm lights or us traffic sensors like they do in EVERY other suburbs in america.
WE TOO STUPID to use Obama moneies korrecly.
Where are the cameras and road sensors? There is no more a need to sit at a red light 4am in the morning with no cars in sight! Is this to give robbers an equal chance in oppertune-a-tee? We in Souf Philly don't know what we missin.
UNIONS!”

“Hopefully it will be functional and look much better then it does now.”

“This is seriously the most ridiculous and stupid thing the city has done to south philly in a while. Especially where Passyunk meets wolf st, you can no longer veer off to the right onto wolf st... instead you have to make a very sharp right turn and hold up all traffic behind you considering it's one lane and one of the busiest streets around here. Thanks alot for that. They should have spent the money on making traffic move better like the guy above me said.”
