To the Editor:

How ironic is it that after this tragic horror that took place in Connecticut, we find all religious leaders of every possible faith in a public school participating in a prayer service for the families of the deceased victims. The very public schools that have no need for God, yet we find them doing just that, praying.

Our president, who spoke very well, quoted scripture and Jesus as he tried his hardest to comfort this devastated community. It was very nice to hear those words come out of his mouth. I would say that it’s time to put God back in the schools. As you can see by this tragedy, he was welcomed back for a one-night-only appearance.

“Going off your logic, don't you find it ironic that god never stopped those kids being molested by priests in churches across the country?”

“Of course you are a God-less person, that's obvious. The point of this letter is that Mr. Obama agrees with taking away prayer, but he comes and prays in a public school. The liberal hypocrisy continues. And if you know anything about 'free-will' any travesties that happen are not by God. Our lives are short (a drop in the bucket) and those children are in heaven and that is what we all need to achieve. Faith in God is the most difficult thing we will ever have to face. Did you ever think that if more people prayed that things would get better? Instead we keep pushing Him away.”

“Your statement is ridiculous. God does not intervene where free will exists. He does intervene when people pray to Him instead of pushing Him away. The hypocrasy of Mr. Obama is that he comes and prays in a public school that he says should not have any praying. Our country continues to bow to the minority instead of reinforcing the majority. Those children, as sad as it may be to their parents, have reached the ultimate goal - heaven. We may not be that lucky. Since we've turned more into a God-less society we have seen more and more tragedy. Just think if everyone followed those "horrible" Ten Commandements that God gave us we'd have no
crime. Of course they are not permitted to be displayed.”

“The supreme court has always upheld the right of a student to pray, provided it does not interrupt class time. The gov has only ruled that students can not be forced/led to pray in public schools in this secular nation of ours. Also #3, I'm pretty sure the ultimate goals of these children was to move on with their lives and not get senselessly killed as they did. Stop living in the past; more and more people are turning away from the fairy tales of religion as the numbers reflect. One final point: more people have been killed in the name of god than any other reason.”

“Dear Anonymous coward - living in the past was great because God and family meant something until groups like the ACLU came along. Formal prayer should have been kept and those that didn't want it could remain silent. Instead, as we now do in this idiotic world of ours, the minority reigns over the majority.”
