To the Editor:
Once again Mayor Michael Nutter is slow in resolving an issue — Occupy Philly. He reacts rather than acts. As a result, we face graffiti, rape allegations, gunshots, feces, human street barricades, inconvenience and a large bill.
The mayor, however, is quick to assess fines on citizens for illegal parking, snow removal, early trash bag curbing, not cutting the grass and the removal of so-called dead trees. He also cut funds for the police and fire departments. I called 311 about replacing an alley light bulb and was told there is no funding to replace light bulbs.
Despite all of this, the mayor has allowed Occupy Philly to run as a $500,000 city debt, for which the overtaxed citizens of Philadelphia will have to pay.
Wake up Mayor Nutter, you are in a deep, deep sleep.

Editor’s note: The City vacated Dilworth Plaza of its occupiers early yesterday. Police made 52 arrests.

To the Editor: I wish to take exception to the letter written by George Munce (“Eviction notice,” Nov. 17). His concern as to what children may think about the Occupy Philly site is not a worry.
To the Editor: Wall Street didn’t force banks to give mortgages to people, who had no means of paying for them, or start the current debt and spending crisis we suffer from today. Oppressive government did. Wall Street didn’t shut down the oil wells in the Gulf; hinder oil and gas development and transmission in the states; and threaten coal-powered generation. Oppressive government did.
