The early bird may get the worm, but these Tuesday morning visitors to the Charles Santore Branch, 932 S. Seventh St., received something less slimy and more enjoyable — a visit from Elmo. The red raconteur and his furry allies will perform next month in Sesame Street Live “1-2-3 Imagine! with Elmo and Friends,” but he gave youngsters a sample of his hilarity during storytime.

The boarded window of a burned-out building on the northeast corner of 16th and Morris streets provided a canvas for one graffiti artist’s recommendaion on how to improve the city: No more cops! Employees of the Samuel S. Fels South Philadelphia Community Center, 2407 S. Broad St., received official word Monday from the Caring People Alliance board to start sprucing up their résumés as the 43,000-square-foot facility is in the process of being sold to the Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School, 2600 S. Broad St.
