“Basically, corporations may be wrong, but we need to have employment and that’s the majority of it. Right now we are in deflation. There is very little money out in the street. People don’t have money, and without jobs and people working, then there is no way for us to succeed as a nation.

13th Street and East Passyunk Avenue

“Somebody needs to be out there, but I don’t want to be out there.”

Charmaine Moore,
18th Street and Washington Avenue

“I think it’s awesome. I know a lot of people who are tenting there now and are trying to support everything. [Occupy Philly] means to change what has been going on with banking and big business. Especially as a student, we want to change the way we take out loans or how we bank.

Nelson Hernandez,
13th and Morris streets

“Like my mother-in-law always said, ‘it’s the squeaky wheel that gets the oil’”

“Obama isn't the problem. The problem was always there and it was just a matter of time before this would happen. Funny how everyone wants to put all the blame on one man, instead of realizing it's been there for years and years. It was just building up.”

Youthful voice

To the Editor: Although the protestors of Occupy Philadelphia are somewhat of an “inconvenience” at City Hall, I am pleased to see that the majority of them are college students. I had almost lost hope for this apathetic generation. Finally, they have found a “cause” and are voicing their opinions about a serious economic issue.

Locals join Occupy Philly movement
By Joseph Myers

“Representatives can’t vote in the interest of the citizens because they are bought,” Anna Frangiosa said Friday afternoon at Center City’s Dilworth Plaza. The former resident of 11th and Tasker streets then waved an American flag bearing a “Join Us” sign on a march to Rittenhouse Square. Hundreds from the two-week-old Occupy Philly movement, a reaction to a plethora of societal issues, joined her.
