Jerla honored 

Marist College junior pitcher Charlie Jerla (Neumann-Goretti) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. The award, which is the first of his career, is a result of his dominating performance against the Bucknell Bison. The right-hander pitched 5.2 inning of shutout baseball, and allowed just two hits to go along with eight strikeouts. The Red Foxes won the game, 5-0.

Boys’ varsity basketball coach Kenyatta Bey notched his 100th victory Monday when his Universal Audenried Charter High School hoopsters notched a 92-48 win on their home court at 33rd and Tasker streets.

Two thousand points of light

On Tuesday afternoon, Universal Audenried Charter High School senior Nisheem McNeal-Wright became the third player in program history to score over 1,000 points. The guard reached the plateau in an 84-66 home win over Sankofa Freedom Charter School. That night, Ss. Neumann-Goretti High School senior center Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree also hit the milestone number in a 70-42 victory over Father Judge High School, becoming the 19th player in school history to do so.
