On Oct. 3, Craig Lawson Jr., left, of the 2000 block of McKean Street, participated in the 16th Annual Buddy Walk and Family Fun Day. The three-hour event at Villanova University Stadium promoted acceptance and inclusion of those with Down syndrome.
The 16-year-old is a junior at Edward Bok High School, 1901 S. Ninth St. He and his parents, Denise and Craig Sr., trekked the two miles of the Family Fun Walk before he showed off his dance moves to the “Electric Slide.” He capped his experience with making new friends and shooting hoops. Money raised from the day benefits the Trisomy 21 program at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and The National Down Syndrome Society. SPR

“Craig is a delightful teenager. He has always had a very pleasant and kind word for everyone once he warms to you. He has loved to dance since he has been waliking. We all love him and thank God for him. He brings joy to all who come in contact with him. His parents and sister are very concerned for him and do all they can to make sure he is given the best education possible. They make sure he is given access to many types of activities. May God continue to bless this loving family.”

“I remember when Craig he was born and then off and on through the years and via his mom, Denise, I have followed Craig's activities and progress. Its wonderful to see him as a teenager participating in family day fun. I learned something new... didn't know he was such a great dancer. Onward and upward Craig! I wish you all the happiness in the world.”
