Dead heat
![]()
Walking outside Tuesday felt like hitting a wall. The air hung like heavy drapes on every street, thick clouds swollen with moisture sat gray and motionless in the sky and 90-plus temperatures kept the usually bustling Italian Market eerily quiet and empty. Typically jammed with fruit sellers, tourists and cart owners, Ninth Street was near-vacant with only a lulling hum of the afternoon heat to accompany this lone cyclist on his ride.
