The corner of Ninth and Wharton streets may be a cheesesteak-lover’s mecca, but for 3-year-old Corin Gilkin and mother Marie the neon lights that beckon hungry late-night diners to Geno’s Steaks are nowhere to be seen and the orange facade is simply a colorful backdrop for some quality time Tuesday afternoon at Capitolo Playground, Ninth and Federal streets. The duo from 11th and Latona streets, who were kept indoors lately by the brutally hot and humid days, laced up their sneakers and slipped on their sandals, making their way to the neighborhood spot to take full advantage of the mild weather.
