While talking on her phone Saturday night in Girard Estate, a woman met with a bag-seeking stranger.
At 6:35 p.m., the female, having walked eastbound on Ritner Street and traveling between South Hicks and South Mole streets, encountered the foreign figure, who used a sneak attack originating from behind to grab her bag, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The attempt caused the complainant to spin around and fall to the ground, where she screamed for help.
The aggressor fled on foot, last seen traveling southbound along South Hicks Street. As a result of the fall, the woman, who retained her bag despite taking a tumble, experienced difficulty walking and felt pain on the left side of her body, Tolliver said, leading to transport to Methodist Hospital, 2301 S. Broad St.
She described the attacker as black, 5-foot-10; having a thin build; and wearing a dark jacket with red in the middle and a dark hoodie.
